In 2011, Ruian's production of safety shoes reached more than 33.12 million pairs, and the industrial output value reached 2.45 billion yuan, of which the export value exceeded US$350 million. The products were exported to Europe, South Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia. In terms of product grade, the proportion of products whose export unit price exceeds 20 U.S. dollars accounts for about 45% of the total export volume, and the export unit price of some products is even as high as 50 U.S. dollars. Safety shoes are also increasing year by year, and they have evolved from high-tech content, light weight, comfort, and multi-functionality, from a single safety function to leisure sports.
